Hellloooo!!! I am sitting on my bed propped up on pillows with my back on a hot pad. I haven't been to the gym to work out for two days because my back has been on the fritz again! Such is life. I have good months when I can work out 5 days a week for the better part of a year with NO PROBLEMS. Then there's times when I'm having to interrupt my routines almost weekly because my back is acting up. Overall it happens less often than it used to since I started weight training a few years ago. So, currently i'm useless. I have been trying to keep my calorie burn at least at 2500 a day even without my workouts. I love my bodybugg! Something I noticed (again) while I was working tonight seemed worth mentioning... Maybe some of you can feel my pain here, and maybe some of you just don't know about this and will gain some knowledge here. Gym ettiquete. What's happened to it? ESPECIALLY on a really busy night like Mondays, some gym manners would be AWESOME! We all have to share this space. A polite "Are you using this?" before you take over the cable Freemotion machine i'm standing next to... Putting your weights away when you're done using them so I don't have to spend 10 minutes looking for them... Wiping off the bench you just used and sweated all over... You know, manners! And possibly my biggest pet-peeve: You and your group of 5 "workout buddies" standing together for 20 minutes in front of the equipment I want to use talking about the hot chicks at the gym and the bar you all got smashed at last weekend. GRRRRRR... All I'm saying is be aware of your surroundings. If you're in people's way, move. Clean up after yourself. That way we can all enjoy our time there!

  1. Hey Kristen, sorry to hear about the recurring back pain. Here's a thought, since you value chiropractic care.....go see one. :-) I can even refer one to you. Just in case 686-5172.
About the gym etiquette thing....I usually just say, "Oh your mom couldn't make it today?" "try finding a girlfriend who has some time on their hands to come with you." Doesn't change though, but I get my insult in anyway.

  2. I like that! I should'a used one of those tonight. It was a frikin madhouse, huh?! And there was a group of what looked to be junior highers hanging out by where I was training a client, just cursin up a storm as loud as they could talk. Really no consideration for anyone around them. SO ANNOYING!!! (Of course I know plenty of adults who are the same way)

  3. I liked the group that was around me...they took a bunch of dumbbells and laid them on the floor...then stared a them but got around to actually talking about who could lift what. In the meantime, I came by and borrowed some of them. There is actually no need for them occupy that may sets of dumbbells at once only one person is working out at a time and they all look to be able to do the same or close to the same amount of weight. I think they eventually tried lifting them and one person broke a sweat so they were all done.
